DJ Zenith, Stephanie Blair, was born in Washington, DC but grew up all over the world. Her childhood included places such as southeastern Virginia; Marquette, Michigan; Angeles City, Philippines; and Seoul and Taegu, Korea.
Music was part of her life from an early age. Whether she was taking classical piano lessons; singing while her father played twelve string guitar in talent shows; singing in choirs; playing roles including lead in musicals; or playing tenor saxophone in symphonic bands; or DJing her college radio station; Stephanie grew up immersed in music.
Stephanie became fascinated by the San Francisco dance scene in Washington, DC where she returned to after college and finally moved to San Francisco in 2002.
Stephanie's mixes are characterized by rump-shakin' rhythms, goth key signatures, electro-jazz syncopations, and funky-twerky melodies. Her style is a fusion of deep tech house, techno and broken beat. Stephanie's style features driving beats combined with rich & full melodic elements, jazz influences, and the sometimes minimal vocals that range from humorous thru to sexy, sublimely suggestive, and the straight out bacchanal. No matter what she plays, she always serves it completely funked up with a super-side of über-twerk.
Stephanie has played with various DJ collectives over the years including Green Gorilla Lounge's Burning Man Camp, Stirty Beats, and Boom Boom Woods to name a few. Currently she is primarily pursuing solo projects. She's thrown parties and/or DJed @ many warehouses around San Francisco and clubs such as Anu, Mighty, Club 222, Harvey's, Sugar, Swig, Olive, Skylark, and Temple.
She's also plays a regular guest DJ on various Bay area radio programmes: Stanford Radio KZSU's Big Love Show a 12-year running Bay Area/internet jewel as well as for highly-respected internet channels & programmes on deepmixfm.com with the crew from El Otro Mondo. She's DJed in exotic places as close as Black Rock City at Burning Man and as far away as Paris. DJ Highlights for Stephanie include DJing at Burning Man and at Burning Man Camp Fundraisers for infamous crews such as the Duck Pond Crew and Green Gorilla Lounge, playing Boom Boom Woods, playing in her home town of Washington, DC, and at her favourite Parisian 3-room 2-floor basement club in Paris, France.
Recently Stephanie has been throwing a party called Funkentanzen which now has a rotating venue and has recently been changed from being a crew of locals to flying in guest DJs from far-away and exotic places.
Stephanie can also be found DJing around San Francisco and Europe... and coming to a warehouse near you.
